Vaccinations 101

Understanding cattle vaccines and why we choose to vaccinate our dairy cows is an important aspect in understanding animal welfare as a whole.

Ultimately, we want to make our cows’ lives better, safer and healthier. We want to ensure these cows can get pregnant and keep their babies healthy to full term.

According to an article from Oklahoma State University focused on vaccination schedules and herd health, immunization is a necessary aid to limit or prevent disease in cattle due to common agents, such as Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR) virus, Parainfluenza-3 (PI3) virus, Bovine Viral Diarrhea (BVD) virus, Bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus (BRSV), clostridial infections, and leptospirosis.

We work with our veterinarian to plan and implement our vaccination program. Our goal is to avoid any preventable diseases and deaths possible.
