The Unpredictability of Caring for Livestock

Do you have kids? Ya know how one day they’ll eat their whole plate of food and the next day they won’t even touch their toast? If you think kids are unpredictable, try caring for livestock.

One day you’re getting along just fine and the next day a storm rolls in; adding challenges like the river rising and pastures flooding.

Or maybe one cow wonders off by herself and gets lost…

In the below video we’re using our drone to find a cow that had done just that!

Even though it was just one cow, each and every cow is so important to us and it was worth the work and effort to find her. Hopefully she learned her lesson and won’t wonder again.

The unpredictability of caring for livestock is both frustrating and rewarding. Each day is different and it keeps things exciting around here. You get one thing figured out and the next thing you know, you have a new challenge to conquer.

I’d say that’s agriculture in a nutshell, wouldn’t you?

The Josi family is proud to play a part in making delicious cheese by providing quality milk to the Tillamook County Creamery Association.
